Respiratory disease is one of AstraZeneca's three strategic priorities, and we have a growing portfolio of medicines that reach millions of patients each year. Our aim is to transform asthma and COPD treatment through inhaled combinations, biologics for the unmet needs of specific patient populations, and scientific advancements in disease modification. We areleveragingnovel combinations, biologics, and devices to treat patientsnowand our research is focused on four key biological pathways: eosinophilic disease, TH2-driven disease, epithelial-driven pathobiology, and autoimmunity. We have a robust pipeline that includes several promising assets in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases within areas such as psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, systemic lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis.
As a Biologic Account Specialty Sales (BASS) –you'llplay a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives.
What you’ll do:
The primary duty of the BASS is to provide dedicated focus to a specific group of accounts and HCPs primarily in health systems/pharmacies, academic centers, alternate sites of care, multispecialty physician groups, and federal accounts.
Conducting businessplanning and needs assessment of accounts and working with internal and external collaborators to meet the needs of selected accounts.
Develop superior product and disease state knowledge and effectively educate and engage account-based healthcare professionals in dialogue about clinical evidence, approved indications, transitions of care and product efficacy/safety profiles to support on-label prescribing for Respiratory Biologics andappropriate patients.
Whereappropriate, the BASS willutilizeinternal AZ stakeholders to engage with accounts whereappropriate, including partnership with other sales teams, medical, and access teams as needed and aligned to Compliance Guidelines.
Demonstrate deep understanding of account dynamics, stakeholder mapping and management, referral network navigation, access, account department drivers, patient flow, etc. This includes creating,maintainingand implementing Strategic Account Plans, providing account and patient-focused solutions, and connecting the right solution to the right account stakeholder.
Function independently with a high degree of coordination and salesproficiencyto generate demand and ensure brand forecasts and assigned budgets meet or exceed therapeutic and territory expectations. BASSs will successfully complete training requirements, including product examinations and health systems/ federal accounts training.
Capitalize on formulary approvals and other opportunities through effective implementation of the strategic targeting plans by using promotional, personnel resources and analytical tools to maximize effectiveness in assigned sales geography, based on local assessment of customer needs.
Proactivelyidentifybusiness opportunities, present value propositions aligned to stakeholder needs andobjectivesand recommend solutions to drive and develop business. BASS will compliantly collaborate across functional areas within sales, market access, medical affairs around commonobjectivesand coordinate efforts to ensure seamless delivery and flow of ourbiologicsmedicines to ouraccountcustomers and theirappropriate patients.
Provide special education to healthcare providers throughappropriate programs, initiatives that fall within AstraZeneca's ethical guidelines.
Consistently challenge yourself to grow and develop, ask for feedback to raise awareness and gain insight into your strengths and developmental needs.
Territory includes Boston, Burlington, Bangor.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of three years of Pharmaceutical/ Biotech Sales experience
Demonstrated experience and mastery in account management
Track record of engaging key partners in complex clinical environments (mid to senior level healthcare professionals, key accounts and the medical community)
Proven demonstration of successfully working in complex cross functional teams
Strong scientific acuity in a highly driven environment
Knowledge of reimbursement and distribution challenges of a biologics product and triage to internal AZ stakeholders when appropriate
A valid driver's license and safe driving record
Ability to travel 60%
Desired Requirements
- Pharmaceutical Account Management Experience (Health Systems, Federal Accounts, Multi-Specialty provider groups)
- Experience launching new specialty products ideally within Respiratory, respiratory biologics, specialty care.
- Buy and bill and IDN transition of care experience.
- Demonstrated effective time management, organizational and communication skills to prioritize opportunities and execute flawlessly
- Demonstrated effective leadership & cross functional partnership.
- Demonstrated judgment and decision-making capability
- Be results oriented with the ability to learn, analyze and convey complex information
